I was going to give Mon Amour a go but am a bit overwhelmed with the amount of games that I currently have so I may try it out after things settle down a bit - looks fun! There are also the 3 "Saturn Tribute" games that I've been itching to play but haven't got around to it yet. Have you ever played Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean? That's my favourite card-based game of all time and it has one epic story as well with a twist that will blow your mind. Maciejewski (crazyaejay): Indeed - it's that time of year I'm buried in games! Have many more on the way, too, like Puzzle Bobble 3D: Vacation Odyssey, ConnecTank, and Undernauts: Labyrinth of Yomi. Veteran game designers, never afraid to follow their own muse.Ī.J. Somehow they can make even a Flappy Bird game compelling. Such a distinctive, consistent aesthetic in their games. Also playing that new Onion Games joint, Mon Amour. So many rule variations within the game itself, so different than any kind of game from my youth or adolescence. I'm not very skilled at card games like these, but I always find them mechanically interesting. Lately I have been playing Shadowverse: Champion's Battle and Monster Train on Switch.

I think I'll take a dip in that pond when this is all overĬircuit Superstars is a lovely-looking old-school racer that'll appeal to those who are wanting to hone their skills within an intuitive yet deceptively challenging formula. Heck, even the unlockables and customization component are primarily cosmetic which is kind of a bummer. I wish the core gameplay featured more elements, too, such as power-ups or a boost system. On a similar note, Circuit Superstars has some very sensitive mechanics that can be irritating because one simple slip-up can put you to the back of the pack it's downright unforgiving at times. However, I found playing online to be rather annoying because the visuals regularly stuttered and I have a great internet connection so it was frustrating to make mistakes because of this. When it comes to content, Circuit Superstars keeps it simple by offering a standard assortment of single player modes that can also be played with up to 4 local players and there's online multiplayer, too. The music is top-notch as well with plenty of upbeat vibes that match the graphical aesthetic wonderfully. Everything in it frankly looks adorable with cute chibi-like vehicle models that may have simple designs but the small details like flashing lights and a little exhaust burst when you brake make them come alive. Now that I mention detail, Circuit Superstars is a superbly presented racing game.
How am I supposed to get around this mess? Speaking of variety, there's an excellent assortment of challenging tracks to master, too, with most of them being quite small yet featuring an impressive amount of detail. The variety of vehicles that you get to control in Circuit Superstars is one of its most notable aspects because each vehicle type controls very differently so whether you're sliding around in the mud in a rally car, carefully manoeuvring a truck, or zipping by in a Formula 1 race car you'll have a great time adapting to the intricacies of how they each control. The fact that it's as challenging as it is may put off more casual racing fans but folks who embrace the notion of practicing and honing their skills are sure to love it. Specifically, you have to hug every corner perfectly and not slip up once if you want to win a race. Playing Circuit Superstars is intuitive as all you do is accelerate, brake, and steer but don't be fooled it's not an easy game to master. Thankfully, Circuit Superstars does a good job of bringing this old-school formula to the modern age with its tight gameplay, fantastic presentation, and variety of tracks and vehicles. There's a certain finesse that's required to guide your vehicle to victory when you're observing it from a bird's eye view and that added challenge really clicks with me. I have fond memories of playing Championship Sprint at my local 7-Eleven when I was a kid and since then, I've loved this very specific genre of racing game.
